It's always the short weeks that feel the longest, don't you think. Can't put my finger on why that is. But it is. Hope you survived and are prepared to have a rejuvenating weekend.
I'd like us to begin to actively dialog on a regular and consistent basis about how our implementation of the FOSS Next Gen Science Kits is going. In a few weeks, at the end of our trial period, we're going to need to make a democratic decision about whether or not to step out and purchase these kits, or continue to seek out a better science curriculum supplement for Marshall with further pilots and trials. The next generation science standards are coming, whether we like it or not, and I think it's wise for us to get out in front of them, just as we did when I encouraged you to begin to look at the EngageNY Math materials a few years ago.
In order to foster conversation and the exchange of ideas, I've created a simple forum for you to share anecdotes and insights about your personal experiences related to implementing the FOSS NG Science kits in your classroom with your students. You can access the forum a number of ways. There is a permanent link beneath the Important Pages heading in the Blue Note Blog sidebar to the FOSS Feedback Forum. Or you can use the forum that I have embedded into this post below.

2016 FOSS Pilot Forum
TPEC Pre-conferences
Evaluation season officially begins next week as we conduct mandatory pre-conferences to review the 2016-2017 TPEC Rubric together. In most cases I will meet with your team during your CT time. A couple other groups of teachers will need to meet with me on Friday in my office.
Here is the schedule for our pre-conference meetings:

FHS Homecoming Parade
We've been invited to sit curbside and watch the Flagstaff High School homecoming parade next Friday morning. As usual, it will occur right in the middle our our Friday early-release lunch schedule. It's supposed to begin at 10:40, but it has never ever started on time. Please bear that in mind along with the fact that your students must eat on time that day if you are considering taking your students out to Bonito to watch the parade.
