Legal Stuff
Please remember, whenever you're contacted by an attorney, especially one who's attempting to get you involved in a family's domestic situation, please bring the letter to me immediately so that I can forward it to the FUSD attorneys on your behalf. If you respond to these sorts of requests (and often it's tempting to, because they're usually worded in very terse and formal-sounding ways that are intended to intimidate you) without first consulting with our lawyers, it will often result in you receiving a formal and official subpoena being delivered by certified mail or a process server. And that subpoena will almost always require you to appear in court as a witness for one side or the the other. That's typically a situation we, as teachers, would prefer to avoid.
Same procedures apply if ever you are subpoenaed without forewarning to court. In this event, you should, likewise, always immediately bring the paperwork to me so that I can, once again, contact our attorneys on your behalf. They will usually then, after reviewing the court's order, contact you and arrange a time to meet with you and I to review your obligations and the procedures you will endure when you must appear in court. Even better, they will almost always also accompany you to court on the day you are to appear. This is a good thing, as they will then have the authority as
your advocate in court, to protest against irregular procedure and questioning in an attempt to protect you from violating a student's FERPA rights and protections.
TPEC Stuff
Certified staff, please be sure you've acknowledged both your
Preconference and your
Formal Observation under the
Observation Acknowledgements tab. The little circular indicator must to the left of each item should be green when you've accomplished this task correctly.
Classified staff, I've entered the data from nearly everyone's evaluation. If you haven't already had a chance to view it, please log-in to
TNL and have a look. Shouldn't be any surprises here. In most cases, your supervisor has already reviewed this data with you. Please acknowledge your Formal Observation under the
Observation Acknowledgements tab.
Marshall Adult Dodgeball
We've raised over $8000 in sponsorship contributions already for our
Dodgeball tournament on Sunday 21 May. Every dollar of those donations endows our extracurricular programs and activities here at Marshall.
But, here's the deal,
we will have to return all that money back to the donors if we don't get a whole bunch more teams to sign up to play.
Dodgeball cannot happen without teams to play. The registration deadline is fast approaching, on Wednesday 17 May, and there are still a number of slots to fill to make the tournament a competitive reality.
Do
you and a few cohorts want to form a team and play? Right on! We've got a few already-sponsored free-to-play teams to place into the mix, we just need players to fill them out. Do you know of a group in the community who might want to form a team and play, please have them get in touch with
Mrs. Reasor ASAP. There's a good chance we can help them out, too.
