Calling off
We had a couple of record days for call-offs at Marshall this week. On Monday we had 18 full or partial absences on our sub sign-in sheet. On Tuesday we had 14. By Wednesday, with just 6 vacancies, we were back to normal, more or less.
Dietrich has said that Monday and Tuesday were big days for call-offs district-wide. Nevertheless, with only one exception, we got all our subs this week. That's because most of you have become quite good at pre-arranging for your planned absences with your own subs well in advance of the day you know you're going to be out.
If your absence is unplanned, please, always do your best to call off at your earliest opportunity so that we give the system every opportunity to find us a sub.The copier
Oh, our poor, sad, zombie-copier. On it's last legs, and as the funeral dirge begins to play, please refrain from allowing newbies, rookies, praxies, or any other ilk of uninitiated-folksies to use the copier on your behalf.

Going forward, until the day it is at long-last hauled away for scrap, let's have only the blackened tear-and-toner stained fingertips of veteran teachers and support staff grace our bedraggled machine.
Marshall Mustang Discipline Data Form
Our old oft-copied, archaic, obtuse Incident Referral form has been officially declared obsolete.
Prior to the winter holiday break you might recall we met together as a faculty to debut a new form for discipline data tracking at Marshall.
This new Discipline Data form (a product of your ever-earnest, hard-working PBS committee; see sidebar: Form: Discipline Referral) can be used by you to track in-class teacher-managed behaviors and consequences (level 1). But it should always be used to refer a student to Dawn (PBS-managed, level 2) or to me (principal-managed, level 2) for consequences and administrative action.
Please use the new Discipline Data form, in lieu of our old Incident Referral form, from now on.
Also, please remember to consult the Polk USD PBS resources for guidance in identifying the appropriate interventions for Level 1 teacher-managed misbehaviors.
New Lockdown information
Please be aware, I have added the following language to our Lockdown Procedures information:
FSO Concert
- If the fire alarm sounds during a lockdown: STAY PUT, DO NOT attempt to evacuate.
The details for the upcoming annual 3-5 grade Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra concert have been released:
- Concert Day: Tuesday, March 3
- Schedule: Buses will be at Marshall to load students immediately after intake. 8:45.
- Concert will begin at approximately 9:30.
- Return: Buses will pick up students at NAU at 10:30 and deliver students back to school.
Due to our proximity to
NAU/Ardrey Auditorium,we expect students back at Marshall before 11 am, which means that
this concert will not impact lunches or RTI for that day.
