Ten new Promethean boards were delivered this afternoon! We'll do our best to keep you posted on when installation will take place. However, it's worth remembering: as this is ultimately up to folks at the district level, we may have to be patient...
There are several upcoming events on the Master Calendar that you should make note of.
- I will be out of the building most of the morning on Wednesday, 11 April, to attend admin meetings. As always, you are in Page Ballard's capable hands while I'm away.
- We will have a Fire Drill next week on Thursday morning, 12 April, at 10:00.
- Next Friday, 13 April, we will meet together from 1:00-3:00 for another Professional Development opportunity. As promised, a time for socializing and collegiality will take place prior to our presentations and activities. Needless to say, I'd like everyone to make every effort to attend this meeting and to arrive on time.
- All faculty and support staff (parapros, instructors, coordinators, assistants, etc.) should attend the faculty meeting on Tuesday, 17 April at 8:00 in the Library. FUSD School Board member Paul Kulpinski will be presenting information about the upcoming bond election to us at this meeting.
- We will be celebrating Earth Day on Friday, 20 April. Holly Thompson has devised a clever plan and numerous activities for the day. More info on this event is forthcoming...
- The semi-annual Marshall Spring Carnival will take place on 26 April from 6:00-7:00 PM. This evening's event is intended to provide teachers with a means for raising much-needed funds for classroom supplies and events. You are encouraged to create and facilitate a game or other carnival-ish attraction for this evening's festivities. More info on this event is forthcoming...
- The annual PTO-sponsored Teacher Appreciation Breakfast will take place on 08 May at 7:45 in the Library.
- The annual Adult Dodgeball Tournament is scheduled for 03 June. This is our largest non-tax-credit fundraiser for our magnet programs.
In other news:
- 2012-2013 FUSD Tech Peer Coaching Program applications will soon be made available. The emphasis for next year will be on grades 1-3 and the training will focus on providing assistance to teachers who will be implementing the district's new iPads. If you're interested, I have more information about this opportunity in my office. Drop me an email if you'd like to schedule a time to come by have a look at it.
- We will need to ensure that we're in compliance with new state statutes governing the expenditure of tax credit monies next year. In a nutshell:
- We will need to determine how/when/where required fees are assessed.
- We will need to treat each and every one of our extracurricular programs and activities as educational, optional, and not for-credit.
- For budgeting purposes, we will set a deadline of 20 April for tax credit requests for the 2011-2012 school year.
- The City of Flagstaff and the Army Corps of Engineers plans to install a new, larger box-culvert beneath Thorpe Road at the Rio de Flag this summer. It is likely that this project will carry over into the coming school year and will, to a degree, have an effect on our traffic flow patterns. I have requested that a temporary wooden pedestrian bridge be installed over the Rio to allow some of our walking students to have safe access to and from home.
