Updates -- 24 Feb.

Hello everyone.

I must admit to having felt a little snowed-under of late.  We were kinda busy around here this week, doncha think?  And the fact that we compressed our normal-busy schedule into four days rather than five didn't work in our favor either.  Nevertheless, thanks for sticking it out, through kindergarten registration, middle school visitation, field-trips, performances, epidemics, CTs, IEPs, duties, observations, interviews, parent meetings, student discipline, and all the rest.

Thanks, most-selfishly-of-all, to each of you for sticking with me as I, once again, learned how to do this job by doing it... and too often, this week especially, by doing it wrong.

Promise I'll try to learn from my mistakes.

Anyway.  Thanks!  You're the best!  That's what I think.  The Daily Sun seems to think so, too!

Suzuki Performances
There's a post on the community blog today about our upcoming Suzuki performances next week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evening at Coconino High School in the mini-theater.  Please have a look at it if you're interested in attending to support our students and this special, one-of-a-kind program. Kinder, first, and second grade teachers are requested to be in attendance to help with pre-performance coordination and such. Thanks.

PBS Awards
We're still working on getting an accurate count from all of you on the number of kids in your classroom who've acquired 30 coupons during our first Positive Behavior Support initiative: Fairness. Please let Mrs. Pavich know ASAP who's qualified in your class.  We really need to have an idea of where we're at with this by Monday morning.  At that time we'll make a determination if we want to proceed with the awards assembly or push the current initiative on for another week or two in order to allow more children to reach the 30-coupon mark.  If we go ahead with the awards assembly, it will take place in the gym at 9:00 on Friday morning 02 March and shouldn't last more than a half an hour.  If not we'll reschedule for another date, probably 23 March, instead.

FAST Graduation
The current FAST family groups will graduate from the program on Thursday evening, 01 March, and you are encouraged to attend.  The program will begin at 5:00PM in the Gym.

FHS Special Friends
Nancy McCleskey would like to remind you that the Flag High Special Friend program will beginning again in March.  A referral form was put in your mailbox earlier in the week.  If you've misplaced it and wish to refer a child to the program, please let Nancy know.

Book Fair & Parent-Teacher Conferences
Week after next, 05-09 March, is Spring Break-eve week, which means it's time for the Scholastic Book Fair and Parent-Teacher Conferences.  The Book Fair will run all week during the school day and will remain open during conference times as well.  Check with Shawn in the Library if you'd like to sign up for a time to visit with your class.

As usual, we will eat lunch and dismiss per our standard Friday-procedures on Parent-Teacher Conference days, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 07-09 March.
