Did you know, there's no such holiday as President's Day? Nor is there a Presidents' Day, unless you live in Botswana. In the U.S., Monday's holiday is really officially called Washington's birthday. And it always has been.
New Faculty Duty Schedule
We're at the end of the first full-rotation of our teacher AM/PM duty schedule! Thanks to the K-team for their dedication to the cause this past three weeks!
We're going to do things a little differently from this point forward, in an effort to ensure that we're adequately staffed at all duty-times, especially on the morning playground.
Henceforth, we will not be strictly arranged by grade-level or specialization for duty. Instead, a group of four of us will always be on duty each morning, beginning at 8:15. I will be the fourth member of each group every week and it will be my responsibility to cover the front of the building (and crossing guard as-necessary) in the morning and afternoon when I am available, which is most days. The other members of the group will arrange themselves in the morning so that at least two are on the playgrounds. The third member of each team will supervise the hallway, cafeteria, and Hamra Hollow. If you fill this role, please do not sit at the bench! Please move from one area to the next throughout your duty time.
In the afternoon, please be attentive to the hallways and cafeteria, and ensure that students are where they should be, behaving in a safe manner, and not messing around in the bathrooms.
If you're going to be absent, please try to remember to arrange for someone to take on these duty for you. It's an important part of keeping our school safe.
The new rotations will only be two weeks long! You can review the schedule online at any time. We will begin on Tuesday, 21 Feb. with me, Fresquez, McKnight, and Pavich on duty.
PBS Initiative: Fairness
We're nearly to the end of our first PBS emphasis. Please make a list of the students in your classroom who have earned at least 30 coupons and send their names to Mrs. Pavich before Friday, 24 Feb. You may still award coupons next week and a supply is still available in the copy room. We will have an awards assembly on the morning of Friday, 02 Mar.
Kindergarten Registration
Next week Wednesday, 22 Feb. is the district-wide Kindergarten Registration Open House night. All of our kindergarten teachers, along with our office staff, school nurse, and kinder-aides will be in attendance from 4:30-6:30 to assist our new families as they prepare to enter school at Marshall next year. If you know of families in need of a registration packet, please send to them to the front office to pick one up. Likewise, if you're available to assist in helping us out that night, please let us know; I'm sure we'll be able to use you!
Fifth Grade Middle School Visits
Our fifth graders are off to SMS and MEMS on Thursday morning, 23 Feb. to drop off their registration packets in person and tour each school.
Coming up...
Our K-2 classes will have their annual Suzuki performances nightly on 27-29 Feb. at Coconino High School this year. Please plan to attend to support your students. Performance begin each evening at 6:00PM in the mini-auditorium located near the school offices at the south end of the campus.
