Updates - 16 May 2013

Hello everyone,

Welcome to the end of a very short week and the beginning of a very long weekend.  How nice.

The End Of The Year is nearly upon us.  Below are many things about that...

End Of The Year: Parties
Please keep your year-end pizza-pajama-free-choice-cupcake-party days to a minimum.  I have to say that.  But it's a reasonable request.  This is still school, after-all.  Thanks.

End Of The Year: Awards
Same as last year: It is recommended that you, as a teacher, set aside time in your classroom toward the end of the year, to conduct some sort of awards/achievement ceremony with your students.  This can take any form/format you choose, and the parameters of what you choose to recognize are up to you and/or your teammates, should you choose to collaborate as a grade level in this.  Mr. Slater has some lovely President's Academic Achievement certificates for you to use if you'd like them.  Likewise, a few links to helpful certificate websites are provided below:
End Of The Year: Checkout
The year-end checkout form is available online.  Please download and print the form so that you can have ready for us (Erin, Malinda, or me) when we come to check you out on Friday 31 May.  When your domain is ready for our scrutiny, please send me an email and I will arrange a time for one of us to stop by.

End Of The Year: Evaluations
To finalize your evaluation for the year you need to log-in to TPEC and navigate to the "Evaluations" tab. Once there, click on the downward-facing arrow next to "In Progress" .  Click "Edit" in the drop-down menu.  Click the plus-button in the "Observations" section.  Look for section 6 labeled "Formal Observation Comments (Teacher)." You may choose to leave comments in the space provided, or you may leave it blank.  When you've finished, check the small "acknowledge" button below the text-box and click save.  Once saved, click on the "Actions" drop-down menu and select "Mark Complete."  This will return you to the "Evaluations" page and a pop-up will appear that says, "The step Formal Observation Comments (Teacher) is now complete."  Click "Ok." The circle next to "Formal Observation Comments (Teacher)" should now be green.  At this point you can print your evaluation documentation using the "Actions" menu or select "Done" and then "Sign Out" to complete this process.

We will not be able to complete the EOY Conference and Review of Student Data until we receive your standardized test scores for this school year.

Because there is no RIF this year, we will not be completing RIF Rubrics together this year.

End Of The Year: Movement
In order to better meet the needs of our students, I've asked a few of you to move classrooms.  If you are involved in these changes, it would be great if you could begin to prep yourself to move and, likewise, to prepare a space in your room for the new occupant to utilize during this time of transition.  The 13-14 school floor-plan is available online.  For the record, the following moves/trades will occur at the end of this year:
  • Hurly (16) and Fit Kids (41) will switch
  • Grant (11) and Wyres (13) will move out
  • Macias and Koenig (8 & 10) will move into Grant and Wyres (11 & 13)
  • Perkins (22) and Ingols (29) will move into Macias and Koenig (8 & 10)
  • Ballard will move into Ingols (29)
  • Danielle Grimmett (our new 3/4 multi teacher!) will move from Puente into Perkins (22)
  • Shaw (9) moves to grade 1 but stays put
End Of The Year: Reflection
As part of your check-out process I've asked you to complete a  year-end reflection form to help us in creating/revising your professional development plan in the future.  It is available online and should only take you a few minutes to complete.

End Of The Year: Retirement
Don't miss Wyres' retirement gathering at Lumberyard on Friday 24 May from 3:45-5:00!

End Of The Year: Support Staff Luncheon
All are welcomed to attend the Support Staff Luncheon on 24 May from 12:30-2:30 hosted by our SPED and RTI teams.  Food will be provided in order to enable us to say a huge THANKS! to our amazing support staff members (teachers who choose to attend are asked to please bring your own lunch).  Please meet in the Gym at 12:30.  Childcare for support staff members will be available in the Music Room.  Thanks to the PTO and RAK for providing the funds for this event.

End Of The Year: CTs and GDMs
We will meet next week for our last CT and GDM meetings.  Prior to our meeting time, please complete this Collaborative Team Meeting reflection form.  We will discuss it together as a group at your CT after your GDM.
