Happy Trifecta-Friday!
Well, week-three of the school year certainly wasn't without its challenging moments, what with our prolonged power-outage, Galileo and AIMSWEB testing glitches, last-minute reroutes of dozens of bus-students and the like... and yet, as always, you (individually) persisted through it all and Marshall (collectively) has, once again, weathered every storm that has beset us.
In case you haven't heard (or don't "like" Marshall Magnet School on Facebook), here's what caused our power outage: a big dump-truck, delivering a massive load of rain-soaked (read: less viscous) cinders to the house across the street (the one that's being renovated), lifted its bed to its maximum angle to deliver its load, right into the overhead power-lines, blowing a major fuse (but thankfully not a transformer) in the line. We were told initially that our power would be out for 2-3 hours, well past dismissal time, but APS was able send over a lineman almost immediately who was able to replace the fuse and restore our power in just over an hour instead.
High Praise
It's been so satisfying for me to see so many of you implementing our Morning Math routine already this year.
Likewise, it has been truly inspiring to see such real, solid teaching occurring all day long, often from the very first minute up to the very end of the school day, being done by teachers who are up-and-about, interactive, and engaged in close proximity to their students.
All I can think when I see this in room after room throughout out the school-day is: Marshall teachers really are the best.
Laminator
Mr. McAllister writes, "Laminator film is on the way and we hope to be able to continue putting protective covers on paper by Thursday, 04 September."
PBS / Management Plans
Nearly all of you have submitted your classroom management plans online by now. Thanks! It's satisfying to me to see our Tier 1 (Safe - Responsible - Respectful) framework being incorporated into so many of your plans.
Please remember to distribute Blue Tickets to students demonstrating appropriate behaviors in our common spaces (halls, cafeteria, playground, and restrooms) at a rate of 2-3 tickets per day.
The PBS Committee met this past Monday and had a great meeting wherein we reviewed and revised a few of the details of our Tier 1 and Tier 2 programs. Look for a review of our PBS program next week, right here on the Blue Note.

Marshall School Web Pages
Please take a few minutes next week to update the information on your Marshall School staff page. Like it or not, this site continues to be our first-face to the outside world. It's essential that it be up-to-date and as attractive as possible.
