Happy pay-day Friday!
Thanks for being on time, attentive, and open-minded throughout our (rare) face-to-face faculty meeting on Thursday. I am excited about the opportunity to implement an APTT-inspired approach to parent engagement at Marshall next year. I look forward gaining more insight into this process when we hear from our first grade team on 02 May during our professional development time. Likewise, I trust that as we move closer to our first school-wide APTT "GDM" at our September 2014 Open House Night, that our RTI specialists and the members of our 2014-2015 Parent Involvement Committee will have helped us to be well prepared to meet with our parents to set at-home academic goals and to provide them with the tools necessary to assist their students as they work toward them together at home.
2014-2015 Staffing
I've had a number of folks stop by my office this week asking about our 2014-2015 staffing situation and what I foresee might be our need for changes-in-placement/assignment next year. I've been working through the details of our upcoming arrangement for the next school year since February, and I think I've got a pretty good handle on what's going to need to happen to meet most if not all of our needs. There are only a few changes that need to be made to our current arrangement, but they are key to making it possible for us to do what's best for our students.
Next week, before we broadcast the staffing assignment list in its entirety, I would like to talk to a few of you first. I will be seeking some of you out during the work-week next week to talk about these things.
Look for the 2014-2015 tentative staffing list to be published in the Blue Note no later than next Friday, 04 April.
FYI: It's my goal to post Pagel's and Ballard's positions next week; both Pavich's and Stern's positions have already been posted, interviewed, and hired (to be filled by Amy Hanno and Amy Ronn, respectively) and Ronn's old position is currently open online and taking applications. I'm hoping to have all these new-hires buttoned up before the end of this school year so we'll know before summer who our new staff will be.
STEM Night
Please plan to attend the first Flagstaff Community STEM Celebration on 02 April at the NAU Skydome from 5:30-7:30 PM. At this event we will be showcasing the awesome science, technology, and math education that's happening at Marshall and across FUSD. More than 50 local businesses and organizations are scheduled to be in attendance showcasing their wares.Game Day
The annual achievement-testing Game Day Memo was distributed this week. Please ensure it goes home. Testing season will soon be upon us.
