Friday-payday! Yay!
Everything went really well today. We were all out of the building and gathered on the field in under two minutes. Thanks for your careful preparation for this important practice opportunity.
Please don't forget: your classroom doors should be closed and unlocked during fire drills and alarms. I know stopping momentarily to unlock your doorknob (which otherwise should remain locked at all times) adds a step to your exit procedures, but it's essential that you take the five-seconds that are necessary to do this. In the event of a real fire emergency, the safety of our personnel as well as the firefighters would depend on your compliance.
Also: remember, during special class times (RTI, Magnet Monday, Specials, etc.) you should have a roster for the group you're teaching at the ready at all times. Should an alarm sound during one of these class periods, follow the new General Evacuation Plan, grab the Red Folder near the door in the classroom you're using, and evacuate yourself and your students to the field safely.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Conference season is just around the corner! We will release students at the following times on Parent-Teacher Conference days:
- Tuesday, 15 Oct. -- 12:25
- Wednesday, 16 Oct. -- 11:10
- Thursday, 17 Oct. -- 12:25
- 9:35-9:55 -- K-1 eat lunch
- 9:55-10:15 -- K-1 on playground
- 10:00-10:20 -- 2-3 eat lunch
- 10:20-10:40 -- 2-3 on playground
- 10:25-10:45 -- 4-5 eat lunch
- 10:45-11:05 -- 4-5 on playground
Mustang Gallop
Don't forget: the Gallop is next Friday, 04 Oct. Please continue to encourage your classes to raise funds.
Also, on Friday, please have the lap-tally labels affixed to your students' backs before you arrive to run. If you need additional labels, please contact Christie Kinkaid at crkink@gmail.com. After your class has Galloped, please remove the sticker from each student's shirt and affix it to a piece of paper so the students can take them home after the run.
PTO Volunteers
Christie Kinkaid also has a long list of parents who have expressed an interest in volunteering in classrooms. Please contact her if you would like someone to help out in your room.
RAK: South In Your Mouth
You should consider attending the South In Your Mouth dinner at the Church of the Epiphany on 13 October. The fun starts at 5:00 PM and tickets are only $10.00. A portion of the proceeds from this event are donated to our school each year via the church's Random Acts Of Kindness program. The Coe family has attended the last couple years and we've always had a great time. Seriously, I hope you're able to join us!

Dalphianna Prettysongs
Dalphianna is a student at Mesa Community College. She stopped in the front office the other day to let us know that she needs to complete 20 hours of community service with children ages 8 and younger in a classroom setting to complete the requirements for a course she's taking at MCC this semester.
