A somewhat-belated Welcome Back and Happy New Year to you all.
Positive Behavior Support
Thanks to the PBS committee's hard work, as well tireless and careful preparation from Jason Slater and James Connell, we're at-long-last ready to begin full implementation of our new Positive Behavior Support initiative, beginning in earnest next week. Following-on our assemblies this morning, and in an effort to measurably raise the standard of behavior for all, you will hopefully find many opportunities to recognize students for their great behaviors in our common areas. Likewise, we (as a committee) appreciate your commitment to reviewing and discussing the components of the program and our expectations with your students as part of your class-time next week.
You should find reward-tickets in your mailbox soon. Please begin distributing them, at an ideal rate of 3-5 per day, to students that you observe going above-and-beyond in the hallways, on the playground, and in the lunchroom.
Playground Injuries
Teachers: please quickly review the following protocol with your students:
"If you or your friend are injured on the playground, always seek out an adult wearing a green vest for assistance. There are at least four grown-ups on the playground during morning recess (before school) and at lunchtimes. They are there to help you. All adults on the playground have nurse-passes, and, if the injury requires the nurse, they will write you or your friend a pass to go to her office. Students must not reenter the building to visit the nurse on their own, without a pass. You must always talk to an adult on duty first."
And, it goes without saying (but I'll say it anyway): please make sure you have nurse passes handy (and a pen, natch) whenever you're on duty outside.
